Music Ministry
Our Music
Music is central to our worship at SFCC. We provide a variety of ways to worship through song, including Sunday Hymns, Adult Choir, Bell Choir, Organ/Piano Duets, Sung Psalms, Children’s Group, Solos, ensembles and
Instrumentals.
In addition, we bring music to our community through offering programs at Senior Centers, Nursing and Assisted Living Homes, and our Concert Series featuring Maine based artists playing everything from Chamber to Bluegrass.
To learn more or to participate, contact:
Minister of Music Dionne Haase (lotofnoise@msn.com) or
Assoc. Minister of Music Steve Barrett (Stevebarrett5987@icloud.com).

Dionne Haase, previously the SFCC Associate Minister of Music / Choir Director, has now moved into the position of Minister of Music / Organist. Dionne came to Maine from Colorado where she was a music teacher for 20 years in Title 1 schools. She was also a church choir director, piano accompanist, soloist, children’s choir director and handbell player. Dionne is excited to be a part of the Searsport Community and has enjoyed helping to plan the church’s concert series. Currently, Dionne is a singer with the PenBay Singers, and a handbell player with the Penobscot Bay Ringers. Dionne feels that there is a place in the music program, regardless of experience or ability, for everyone. A willing heart and desire to bring joy to others is all that is required. Make a joyful noise!

Steve Barrett finally moved up to Searsport from the Boston area in 2023, after visiting family frequently for about 40 years. His musical background in school and at Bates College included as much band, choir, theater, and church as he could fit in his schedule. He has had extensive experience in the world of Barbershop choruses and quartets since the age of 14, spending over 15 years directing choruses, and winning the District Quartet Championship in 2003. Coming to Maine presents a whole new world of music and musicians to enjoy and learn from; Steve is active with the PenBay Singers, Penobscot Bay Ringers, and is thrilled to play bells and now direct the choir as Associate Minister of Music. He is eager to share what he knows with you, and to learn from you as well. Come share the music!
